Access Equestrian is seeking kind and caring volunteers to assist in our afternoon Stable Moments mentorship program for foster and adopted children.
Stable Moments is a one-on-one mentorship program that matches a volunteer community mentor with a foster or adopted child and one horse for one hour each week. This program has been shown to improve the life course of foster and adopted children who have experienced complex developmental trauma. Through equine-assisted learning and community mentorship, we work towards building resilience and restoration in children. Each participating child is given a plan of care that is color coded for the life skill areas they are working on. Community mentors then choose activities based on those colors. To track progress, mentors complete activity logs at the end of each session. We also collect pre and post test data for life skill improvement and complete progress summaries at the end of session throughout the year. As a mentor for Stable Moments the requirements are as follows:
Please note: This volunteer mentor opportunity is for immediate placement during designated weekday afternoons and requires a six-month commitment. |
